Ring Sizing Guide: Find Your Perfect Fit

A ring that's the right size disappears on your hand — you forget you're wearing it. A ring that's off by even half a size is something you notice all day, either spinning around your finger or leaving a mark. Here's how to get it right before you order.

Measure at the right time

Fingers naturally swell and shrink throughout the day and with temperature, so measure in the evening when your hands are at their largest, and avoid measuring right after exercise or in very cold weather.

The string or paper method

Wrap a thin strip of paper or string snugly around the base of the finger you'll wear the ring on, mark where it overlaps itself, then measure that length in millimeters. That circumference measurement maps to a standard ring size chart, widely available online — just search "ring size chart mm" and match your number.

Compare to a ring you already own

If you have a ring that already fits the intended finger well, measure its inner diameter with a ruler and compare it against a printable ring sizer. This tends to be more reliable than measuring your finger directly, since fingers compress slightly under a string or paper strip.

When in doubt, size up slightly

A ring that's a touch loose is more comfortable, and safer, than one that's tight enough to trap your finger if it swells. It's also easier for a jeweler to resize a ring down than up.

Not sure, or between sizes?

Several of our styles are designed as adjustable, open-band rings specifically so sizing isn't a guessing game — they flex to fit a small range of finger sizes instead of locking you into one number. If sizing feels like a hassle, that's the simplest way around it: look for "adjustable" or "opening" in the product description, or browse our Rings collection and filter by what fits your comfort level.

And if a ring arrives and it's not quite right, that's exactly what our returns process is for — check our Returns page for the details.
